5/4/08

Today was pretty exciting, considering other days. I got up at 10:00, brushed my teeth, went to the john, and took a bath. After that we left for the temple, but before we did that, I chatted with Rohan Limaye. He reminded me that today was May 4: the day when the Houston Yacht Club party took place. I panicked, since I was worried that we would miss it, but was a little reassured when Rohan Limaye told me he would be arriving at 2:50. The party took place from 2:00 to 5:00, so we had to budget our time. After going to the temple, praying, and getting some Idlis and Dosa (Indian food), we left as quickly as we could and arrived back home. I got into my swimming shorts, and hopped into the car.
We arrived at the Houston Yacht Club at 3:07. I ran out of the car, took my shirt off, and dove into the 8ft pool. Chills were sent down back, and I felt as if I had just dove into a bucket of ice. Waves crashed down my body sending it deeper into the pool, but I pushed against the force and rose up to the surface as fast as a bullet. After watching a people jump off the pool's diving board, I decided I would join them. I dragged myself out of the pool, went to wait in the line, and when I was ready to go, I hopped onto the board and cannonballed into the ice cold water. As the water stung my back and chlorine did the same to my nostrils, my rear end bumped against the bottom of the pool. I looked up and saw and amazing sight. I could see the sky reflected off of the liquid. I released my legs from my chest and used them to push off of the bottom of the pool, and I shot upwards, once more. I spotted a few faces that I knew, in the pool. I saw Rashmi, Priyanka, and Javier. After I got out of the pool, I saw Mitchell, Bhaanu, Ryan, Emory, Mary, Hunter, Ross, and Matthew Casso and Counts. Mitchell and I went to go kayaking, but the list was full and the big boats were coming so they had to stop people from going. A little downhearted, we went to go fishing, but as Mitchell and I got the bait, tools, and fishing rod out of the van, my spirits immediately rose up. Sadly, this was my first time fishing. We ran to a pier that we had spotted earlier, and we yelled shock when we saw how unstable the thing was. It swayed underneath our feet. After we got the hooks and bait set up, Mitchell taught me how to cast. I got the fishing line tangled on my first try, but that was not unusual, and so I tried once more. After a set of new string, and a few "ouch"es, I could cast pretty well. After about half an hour, Bhaanu and Ryan joined us. We never did catch any fish, but the experience was quite memorable.
After that I left, and now I am writing this, and working on my Social Studies review. Well, I have to go now. See you later.
